Puppet Pizzazz

Come and enjoy the show on July 9th.
Puppet Pizzazz

Puppet Pizzazz has entertained audiences internationally for the past 20 years with a variety of puppets, including giant puppets that stand over 8 feet tall. With world headquarters in Houston and a European branch based in Paris, France, Puppet Pizzazz has performed for princes and presidents. The program will begin at 10 a.m. in the Humphreys-Burson Theatre. Following this very special performance, prize drawings will be held and refreshments will be served.

During the performance puppeteer Greg Ruhe brings puppet characters of varying sizes, dimensions, and styles to life, while sharing behind-the-scene secrets used to create and manipulate them. He has worked with hand puppets, giant full body puppets, puppets made from found objects and recycled materials, and shadow puppets. His 45-minute variety puppet show is a great introduction to the world of puppetry and will be enjoyed by everyone from preschoolers to senior citizens.

Ruhe, the founder of Puppet Pizzazz, co-founded the Children’s Theatre of Houston, which was twice awarded number one in Arts in Education by the Cultural Arts Counsel of Houston. Greg also worked for the Texas Institute for Arts in Education as a teaching artist and performer. Other educational clients are The Children’s Museum of Houston, The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Houston Grand Opera, The Bayou Bend Museum, Harris County Department of Education, University of Texas Medical Branch, and Texas public libraries. Greg is also on staff for the National Puppetry Festival.
